Rowanston is born
Scottish immigrants first settled and named the property Rowanston after the region they came from in Scotland. Rowanston is located at 2710 Burke & Wills Track, Glenhope just over an hours drive north of Melbourne in Victoria.
Australian explorers Robert O'Hara Burke & William John Wills travelled on their expedition from Melbourne to the Gulf of Carpentaria in northern Australia. This journey is reflected in the "boot's" on our label.
First plantings occurred in 1995. The heavy red soils (terra rossa) hold moisture and the volcanic outcrops develop white peppery characteristic in the red wines, whilst the cool nights and slow ripening period produce rich full fruit flavours.

Shiraz VIN2001 won the Gold Medal and Best Wine in Show whilst the Cabernet Sauvignon VIN2002 won the Bronze Medal, both awarded at the Daylesford Wine Show in 2002. Today, rowanston continue to win many local & international awards.

Rowanston’s rich red basalt soils with a climate of cold wet winters and warm dry summers are a perfect growing environment for slow ripening fruit making rich full fruit flavoured wines.
The key to our wines begins in the vineyard with hand pruning, moisture monitoring, minimal to zero use of chemicals and meticulous selection of ripe rich berries for winemaking.
All wines are handpicked and made using traditional techniques which include gentle crushing, open vat fermentation, and basket pressing, followed by maturation in oak barrels.
We are a fully 100% Australian made, owned and operated vineyard and winery. We work hand-in-hand with a team of passionate people who gathers to produce handcrafted wine using a mix of modern and traditional methods with minimal mechanical intervention and sustainability.
Fraymond Lew leads the Rowanston team working together with Simon Glover who is a viticulturist and vineyard manager with 30 years of experience. Our vigneron-winemaker Etienne Mangier originally from the foothills of the French Jura region. His vineyard and winemaking skills were planted during his time
working in Sauternes, France. His passion for winemaking has resulted in working in many different countries before settling down in Australia in 2010. He has recently been awarded for the 2021 Top 50 Young Gun of Wine Award. All our other team members handles with detailed care on operations, marketing & distribution work.
