2019 Riesling

$28.00

Rowanston Reserve

This Riesling displays delicate perfume of citrus blossom, lime and apple. The palate has great length and intensity with flavours of green apple and zesty lime.

"Pale quartz-green; an interesting wine, early picked, and with only the barest hint of sweetness on the aftertaste; attractive, juicy lime and apple flavours provide context and mouthfeel." Halliday.

Rowanston Riesling award track record: Trophy, Gold Silver and Bronze medallist.

Technical Information

This Riesling was hand-picked, de-stemmed and, the fruit was then the whole bunch pressed, and fermented in stainless steel tank.

The 2019 Vintage season was remarkable with harvest times similar to the last vintage, with fine weather and dry conditions. Harvesting of the high-altitude vineyard was a little later, started from mid to late March and extended into mid-April. The season saw Budburst between late September in warmer areas and mid-October in the more elevated parts which were about normal. Winter rains had provided soil moisture for Budburst. The fruit set was generally good.

A very dry January to May led to even ripening and low disease pressure. Cool, dry nights resulted in excellent fruit flavours and good acidity. This vintage looks to be a good one. Baumés achieved were greater than previous years and fruit quality was excellent with yields average to below average.

Rowanston Riesling award track record: Trophy, Gold Silver and Bronze medallist.
